Went to Shanwei with Teacher Goat for food, fun, and birdwatching~
I first met Teacher Goat at a book sharing session, and learned about the relatively niche hobby of birdwatching. Coincidentally, every winter, a large number of migratory birds come to Shenzhen for the season, and Shenzhen Bay is filled with countless seagulls and black-faced spoonbills, making it a paradise for birdwatching enthusiasts, haha.
Thus, I also got into birdwatching and bird photography, upgrading my equipment along the way, haha. Following Teacher Goat's arrangements, we went to Shanwei for birdwatching, and I was happily given the nickname "Little Cuckoo."
I must say, Teacher Goat's arrangements were very reasonable. After getting off the high-speed train, we headed straight to our accommodation, which was near the train station. The environment was decent, and there was a barbecue restaurant downstairs, which was hilarious.
The itinerary for the next two days was also packed. We initially planned to drive ourselves, but considering the remote locations we were visiting, we opted for a chartered car. In hindsight, this was a very wise decision because many of the roads were not suitable for inexperienced drivers.
It was my first time going out for field birdwatching, and with the newbie buff stacked high, we spotted the colorful ibises from a distance. They were considered extinct in China for nearly 70 years, and only recently have there been sightings, earning them the nickname "Panda of Birds."
This is what they originally looked like:
Of course, there were many other birds recorded, but to save some CDN, most of the images are compressed. Just a record for now.
